The Snake

I called my husband and said, Dolly, there’s a snake in our bedroom. I’d fallen in love with that story when I was a kid growing up in church. Then, talk about coincidence. The doorbell rang, and there stood the Jehovah Witnesses. I usually say no, I’m not feeling redeemable today, but with that snake in there? You know he’s important, being front and center in the Good Book and all. Was this my chance at redemption? I took their pamphlets, said thank you, and called my husband back. Dolly, I said, I’m going back in there and discuss it.
