Puppet Show
The play is about horses because my niece
wants a horse more than anything.
Baby Horse says, “Mama! Mama! I’m so glad you’re here and safe!
I’m so happy you came back from the mountains.”
But it’s my niece’s voice from behind the quilt.
“Were you lost?” she asks. “I was lost, too!”
This is her home now, but a part of her will always
be watching the mountains, waiting
behind a makeshift curtain.
