A Quiet Rebellion
Lia Roozendaal is a photographer based in El Sobrante, California. Her work spans landscape, still life, and street photography, a genre she has increasingly pursued during trips to Mexico with her spouse, the artist Lisa Kokin. Light is the driving force in her practice, whether illuminating found objects from the desert, colonial façades in the Yucatán, or capturing the quiet geometry of winter landscapes near her home. She works with a medium-format Hasselblad camera, enabling fine detail, subtle tonal transitions, and color rendered true to life.
