January Clearance Sale
Red-ink ads scream
huge discounts
on well-fingered leftovers.
What I don’t need turned cheap.
I tucked the holidays
back into dark closets to gather
dust and regrets.
Maybe I should spring for one pillow.
Something to hold my head up
in feathers.
