Spirals
With her pink tutu swirling with frills, the pinch of thumb and forefinger summons a humid breeze, if that’s possible. She dips and rolls. Faster and faster she twirls until her toes lift off the floor. Suddenly she’s the ballerina in a Degas painting, flying to the sound of applause.
Cheryl Snell’s books include several poetry collections and her Bombay Trilogy novels. Her most recent book, Intricate Things in their Fringed Peripheries, is a collection of flash. Her work has recently appeared in the Literary Yard, New World Writing, and elsewhere. She was trained as a classical pianist, and lives in Maryland with her husband, a mathematical engineer.
