Another Thing

She told me I had another thing coming to me, so I waited for the thing. It’s not that I really needed another thing, I had plenty of things as it was, some might say too many things, but still, if I had another thing coming to me I wanted to see what it was, and then I could decide if it was just one of those things I’d move to the back of my mind and forget about or if it was something I should concern myself with. So I waited.

Nothing came to me that really fit the bill of another thing; oh sure there were little things here and there, but certainly nothing that would qualify as another thing. I was starting to get pissed off. Where was that other thing already? Screw this, I told myself, I’m just going to come right out and ask her.

So I asked her.

“What was that other thing?” I asked her.

“What other thing?”

“You know, the other thing you told me I had coming to me.”

“When was that?”

“You know, yesterday, when we were discussing this and that!”

“Oh that!” she said. “I was probably just pissed off!”

Pissed off? She was pissed off? She tells me I have another coming to me and she’s pissed off? What does she have to be pissed off about? I’m the one who should be pissed off!

“What were you pissed off about?”

“Oh, you know,” she said. “This and that.”
