Get Down off There

She’s up the ladder to the top of the water tower,
its warped wood silver against the noon.

Her mother shielding her eyes, yells,
“God Almighty, I mean it. Down this minute!”

Here she is again climbing to some high point
to reach The Almighty for a private chat.
