Yee Jan Bao, a painter and adjunct professor at California College of the Arts, was born in China, but raised in Uraguay before coming to the United States. Bao showedin NY at PS1, Long Island City; the New Museum; Stephen Rosenberg Gallery; Trabia Macafee; and Betsy Rosenfield and Thomas McCormick, Chicago. His work was reviewed in Art in America, Artforum, Village Voice, Chicago Tribune, and the Chicago Sun-Times. He received grants from the Guggenheim Foundation, the National Endowment for the Arts, the Pollock-Krasner Foundation, and the Chicago Arts Council. He taught at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, Rhode Island School of Design, University of Texas, University of Chicago, and the State University of New York at Stony Brook. BA from Grinnell College; an MFA, from Claremont Graduate School. He died October 16, 2014, after a long illness.
