Unhiding Knowledge

We had an angel over for lunch. Everyone does. It is a way to get to know them, to try to understand why they remain here. Citizens want to know why they do not sing themselves back to Heaven, but the question is never placed openly. Instead, we invite one to lunch, talk about how they must marvel at our town, must enjoy feathering through the park at night, making a game of avoiding the boys who throw rocks. We piece together what we can.  Sometimes, they bring tufts of clouds as hostess gifts. Clipped wings is not the answer.

Ken Poyner has ten available collections of poetry, flash fiction and micro-fiction, the latest, Science Is Not Enough, speculative poetry. He has lived in southeastern VA all his life, and spent 33 years herding computers. Recent work in Mobius, Café Irreal, Exclamation Mark, elsewhere.  www.kpoyner.com
