Interval 359
light and paper, lamplight, neighbour light,
exercise of the eyes, for what’s on the wall,
heed for the moment’s music, what
opens up before closing, a door
drawn once, a figure in front of it,
a self-portrait perhaps, silent as time, facing
away, Orpheus, unable to enter,
a solitude, the sounds in pursuit of him,
listening : listen :
there’s something in the act of appearing
between the lines, in the intervals
of the music, in the space
between the light
and the paper,
a passion, perhaps,
a tumult of notes, a lust
before the lapse into silence
