a clamoring by the shore, the conductor was waving his red polo shirt at me but the waves needed no cue to sway and the barnacles never listen just kept poking and the fish kept swimming so I sat and stared, red feet and sunburned back, modern Gollum, soaked in seawater, wasting precious time.











Ethan Kwak is a Korean American writer who grew up in Singapore and now lives in Southern California. He mainly writes of the surreal and autobiographical. His poems reside in The Beatnik Cowboy, dadakuku, Cultural Daily, and elsewhere.
